How To: Copy an Email Template
Users can copy their email templates within their study. When you copy your template, it will make an exact replica of the Email Body, including all the elements used, formatting, links to surveys and websites, use of participant variables, and “Automatically Send Based on” date. Once a template is created, you can modify one without affecting the other. This saves time for users by easily creating multiple, similar email templates so that users can expedite their usage.
How to copy an email template within a study:
- Go into the email template you wish to copy
- Scroll down to the bottom of the page
- Select one of the two buttons:
- Copy Template (red) creates an exact replica of your original template, and keeps your original template open.
- Copy Template & Close (green) creates an exact replica of your original template and closes the original template. You will automatically return back to the list of templates.
Note:
If you made any changes to the template before attempting to copy, you will need to save your template first before you copy it.
- If needed, click the button for a second time to create another replica of your template
- Once your template is closed, you can go to your template list and find the new template. The new template will be named “Copy of (your original template name)."
- You can open and modify anything on either template. Changes that you make on one template will NOT affect the other templates.
Note:
Duplicating the template will also duplicate participant variables, like {{event_name}} and {{event_scheduled_date}}, as well as the “Automatically send based on” date. If you’re copying your template to use for a new event, make sure you check that the event name and date match this new event.
How to copy an email template into a different study:
The Copy Template buttons only allow you to copy the template within its original study. If you want to copy a template to another study, you can export your study settings and import the selected template(s). You can find more information on how to do that in this article.
